Things to do in the Greater Palm Springs Area

Palm Springs, CA is a short drive from pretty much anywhere in Southern California. If you ever want to get away for the day or even the weekend, below is a list of a few things you can do!

How to Get There

If you drive from SoCal, it takes about an hour or two depending on traffic. There are also a few things to do along the way.

If you fly in, you can fly into PSP which is in Palm Springs. If you want to save money and are willing to drive a little over an hour, you can fly into ONT

Where to Stay

Greater Palm springs has a little bit for everyone.

I would recommend booking an Airbnb. It is HOT out there so it is nice to have the pool to yourself. You can even throw a small party like we did (check with your host first). We loved our Shell Float

If you're looking for the Vegas vibe, The Saguaro is the place to be. On Saturday's from 2-5pm they have a DJ play from a room's balcony. No need to drive all the way to Las Vegas, NV.. But I advise you get to the pool early to secure seating, as it is very limited. If you don't secure a seat under an umbrella, forget it. IT'S TOO HOT! They don't allow outside food or drinks which sucks, so get creative, or be prepared to pay almost $20 for your spiked lemonade slushy.

If you want a pool, without the commotion, Caliente Tropics hotel has a great heated pool without all the people.

I also recommend the Aqua Soleil Hotel & Mineral Water Spa. Technically it is in Desert Hot Springs, and not Palm Springs, but it is in the same area. The hotel is family friendly and the pools are actually natural mineral water so they allow you to relax, no need for the jacuzzi.

What to Eat

Breakfast/Brunch

Elmer's Restaurant: A family friendly diner with great food. It was pretty packed when we got there around 9:30am, so expect a wait. They have large German Pancakes and I mean LARGE, so maybe consider sharing one with the group.

El Jefe (@ The Saguaro Hotel): The menu was small but the food was good. They use agave to sweeten their coffee, not sugar. We were able to walk in for breakfast without a reservation, but I believe if you plan to eat dinner, reservations are recommended.

The Tropicale - Perfect place to celebrate a birthday or have an excuse to dress up cute for a nice brunch. I recommend making reservations for better service.

Lunch/Dinner

Thai Palms Restaurant: Serve homey Thai food. Pad Thai is always my go-to. They only have to-go (no dine in).

Sandfish Sushi and Whiskey - Romantic atmosphere with beautiful dishes. Make sure to reserve ahead of time as they book fast.
