Oak Glen, CA
How to spend a day in Oak Glen, CA
We don't get to see much of the trees change colors in Orange County, so it was nice to find a place near to home where we got to really feel like it was Fall. Getting to Oak Glen took about 1.5 hours from OC, but the foliage of the trees and the foggy weather made it completely worth it. The kids really enjoyed it and I definitely plan to return again every year as a family tradition.
We wanted to start off our day by walking through the Oak Glen Preserve, but we were short on time, so we skipped it. It is a botanical garden and children's outdoor discovery center with hiking trails.
Instead, we went straight to Oak Tree Mountain. We were planning to get a famous pie from Apple Annie's Baker but the lines were incredibly long, so we skipped it. We walked around and admired the small shops at the entrance. It was like a cute mini town.
They had all sorts of activities for the kids, such as pony rides, a pumpkin patch, large games and a petting zoo- the little pigs were so cute. They didn't forget about the adults - they have an Ax throwing area and a beautiful beer & wine garden.
After a couple of hours, we headed to our main destination and the best part of the day- Willowbrook Apple Farm. This was without a doubt the best part of the day. We had a blast!
Willowbrook Apple Farm is stroller friendly and has so many activities that you can do at your own pace so it was perfect for us as we have a little one under the age of two. It is free to enter the farm. Even if you don't have kids, it was such a cute place for a date or a fun place to gather with friends.
We started off by making our very own apple cider. An employee is there to help guide you every step of the way, and you get to bring the cider you make home! I carried my little one in this baby carrier so that he could participate with us.
It was so much fun to do and tastes really good! If you decide that you don't want to make your own cider, they have delicious warm cider available for purchase so you can enjoy while you walk around the farm.
We then headed over to try their delicious BBQ - their mango habanero meat balls were SO GOOD! We wish I could have had 100 more of them. For dessert, we had one of their yummy and sweet carmel apples. After that, we went to explore the farm, their store, and visit the cute ponies. It was so nice to wander around and see everything the farm has to offer. I loved that it was very family friendly and we were able to explore around.
On the weekends from 4pm-6pm, they host wine tasting by the fire and play music. They sell s'mores packs that include sticks so that you can melt the marshmallows which was fun. There was plenty of seating and was very dog and family friendly. There were also many couples and some groups of friends. It was such a fun and memorable experience. I recommend everyone to come and visit Willowbrook Apple Farms!
Willbrook Apple farms is not only open in the Fall. They have apple picking from September to October and in the summer, they have berry picking! We plan to stop by next year for their other activities.
Thank you Willowbrook Apple Farm for having us!
We enjoyed every minute and are grateful. Hope to see you again next year!
