How to spend a day in Malibu, CA
A day trip from Southern California
We started our day by going to the Malibu Farm Restaurant. There was a small fee to park on site, but it was worth it so that we did not have to go look for parking. On the other end of the pier, they have the Malibu Farm Cafe. In other words, if you want to sit down and have a waiter take your order, go to the restaurant at the entrance of the pier. If you prefer a more casual, cafe style place where you order your food and then grab your own seat, go to the end of the pier to their Cafe - they are both the same food.
After breakfast, some of us went down to the beach to enjoy walking along the waives and sand. The rest of us walked along the pier, window shopped, and watch the surfers ride the waives. It was nice and relaxing. (Yes, all those little black "dots" in the water below are Surfers! Ha! )
In the afternoon, we then headed over to my favorite part of the day, the Malibu Cafe at Calamigos Ranch. There is a $10 fee to park, which allows you access to the shuttle that drops you off at the entrance of the ranch. Once there, you can grab a seat anywhere available. There was live music and people were playing games, the place is super kid friendly. There is a restaurant at one end and a cafe at the other, with a bar in between. There were many things going on - birthday parties, a wedding, and a baby shower to name a few. It was such a fun and peaceful way to spend the afternoon.
Just like the Miley Cyrus song says, the sky surely is "more blue in Malibu".
If you have more time, I suggest doing the Malibu Wine Safari. There you get to feed a Zebra and drink wine. Win, win if you ask me. I also recently found out you can take a "wine hike", with Malibu Wine Hikes. I will have to try it next time we go!
