Things to do in Camarillo, CA

We explored Camarillo for our annual family trip this year. It was so much fun and cannot wait for you to experience it as well!

Sunday

We started our morning with a beautiful hike at Hill Canyon Trail. There were many strollers, dogs, and families as it was a flat and easy hike. My favorite part of the hike was that the trail goes along part of the river, making it so that while you walk you can hear the stream. The hike should take you about an hour to get to the end and back. Even still, if you go in the summer, make sure to bring hats and water as there is not much shade. It was in the low 60s when we went so it was perfect.

We then headed over to grab breakfast at Braxton's Kitchen. There is both indoor and outdoor seating so we were seated right away which was nice. The restaurant allows dogs to brunch with their owners and even has a menu section for them! It was the cutest thing ever! I LOVED their spicy salsa that comes on the side with the breakfast burrito (just thinking about it makes my mouth water). The service was great and the atmosphere gave a positive vibe, not like a large chain restaurant with long waits and crappy service. On the contrary, they came to check up on us and always made sure we had what we needed. As we had our little one with us, I was very grateful for that.

Thank you Braxton's Kitchen for having us! We LOVED it and hope to be back soon.

After breakfast we headed over to the Commemorative Airforce Southern California Wing. There is a $10 fee for adults, but our little one got to sit inside an old airplane and touch everything in sight, so it was completely worth it.

It quickly became nap time so we headed over to our room at the Hampton Inn and Suites. I loved everything about the hotel; the employees were so kind, the rooms were clean and welcoming - not to mention the building was beautiful - and the location was perfect. We did not need to drive more than 15 minutes at any point in our weekend.

Soon after we went to One Acre Farm. This was my favorite part of the trip! Our tiny human was able to run around and get dirty without a problem. The u-pick berries are organic, so we were able to try them straight from the plant. Let me tell you, they were DELICOUS (even though they are supposed to go in the bucket first - oops)! The season opens in late March and they also have u-pick strawberries soon after as well. Follow them on Instagram to get the latest on their opening for the 2023 season.

Thank you One Acre Farm for having us! From the bottom of our hearts, we had a great time and hope to come back in the future.

We started to get hungry so we headed right over to The Slate Bistro. As soon as we walked in I could see the beauty of the place. The ambiance was really nice and made me feel calm and excited to be there at the same time. So many restaurants these days offer a beautiful view but serve mediocre food. This was not the case AT ALL at Slate. Not only was the place nice, but the food was beyond delicious.  I encourage you to try their brussels sprout. Trust me, you will thank me later! They were SO FLIPPING GOOD.

The Slate Bistro also allows guests to reserve events in their outdoor patio. Best part? It's free! All you have to do is purchase food. Make The Slate Bistro the location for your next event!

Thank you The Slate Bistro for having us. We still dream about your food until this day. We will be back!

We then went back to the hotel, changed, and went for a swim in the jacuzzi. It was such a fun way to end the night.

Monday

After sleeping in, we headed over to the free hot breakfast in the lounge at the hotel. Being that it was February, they had mini red velvet waffles available as an option. I thought this was so cute. My little one and I loved them.

After we checked out of the hotel, we went over to the Community Center Park so that our kiddo can let all of his energy out. There were restrooms available and the park felt very open and safe. He had a blast and did not want to leave!

Before heading out, we paid a visit to the Camarillo Premium Outlets. They have every store you can think of.

We then stopped by the drive through at in-n-out to have a late lunch on the road.
