Things to do in Alaska
At first, when my husband suggested to go to Alaska for our honeymoon, I laughed. But then he started telling me about all the things there are to see and do, so I agreed. Alaska was the most beautiful state we have ever visited. The numerous sites and places to go to were amazing and I would love to visit again one day. Don't let the cold or rain stop you from going, it is completely worth it! If you like nature and waterfalls, this is a highly recommended trip. I am so glad we went.
We started our trip by taking a Carnival Cruise boat out from Seattle, WA.
Juneau
The first city we stopped at was Juneau. We visited the Mendenhall Glacier and Nugget Falls. There is a quick 20 minute paved pathway that you walk through to get to the Glacier and the waterfall. Sadly with global warming, the glacier is getting smaller and smaller by the minute. Even still, it was beautiful.
After our hike we went on to Mount Robert's Tramway. It starts at the bottom of the mountain, and then takes you to the top. The view was very beautiful! Once at the top, we explored the stores, grabbed a snack, and then headed for our hike right behind the Nature Center.
Skagway
The next day we went to visit Skagway. This was my favorite stop of the whole trip! We started off by going to the Slide Cemetery. Fun fact: This is the oldest cemetery in Skagway and is based on the Gold Rush. Right behind it is a pathway that leads to a short 30 minute hike to the Lower Reid Falls . The hike was completely worth it. The waterfall at the end was beautiful.
Then we went to walk around the town center. It was really cute and had a lot of things to see.
After lunch, we hopped on a bus tour that took us to the boarder of Alaska and Canada. The sights were breathtaking!
Ketchikan
The next day we went to the town of Ketchikan, Alaska's first city. The town center is on a pier and has a river going through it, it was really nice to walk around and just admire the view.
After lunch we took a trolley to visit Herring Cove and then we came back to the city center to see Creek Street before we went back on the boat.
BONUS: Victoria, BC, Canada!
The cruise included one day to visit Victoria, British Columbia. I loved it! We went to see the Butchard Gardens. The park is amazing, with thousands of beautiful plants to see. Its good to see both in the day and night time as they light the park up.
The next day was what they call "a day at sea". We were able to relax on the boat. During breakfast, we shipped past Tracy Arm Fjord.
When we arrived back in Seattle, we had a few hours before our flight back to Southern California, so we decided to walk around the Public Market in Seattle. It was a great way to end our trip!
